Fine Motor

JK Fine Motor Screening

A child may not be able to do some of the tasks listed in the Prescreening Booklet. This is not necessarily a cause for concern but it will give a parent some idea of what a child will be expected to do in school. Parents may wish to practice some of these skills with their child.

Some children may not have had an opportunity to learn these skills and parents may find they will develop quite quickly when they enter school. If a parent is concerned about their child's fine motor skills (ability to use their small muscles) FAIR START can make a referral to an Occupational Therapist for a fine motor assessment.
